Life like dinosaur at the Natural History MuseumIf you love dinosaurs, are fascinated by the Southwest, or just want a good indoor date, the AZ Museum of Natural History in Mesa might just be the destination for you!  The museum has an interesting history in itself; it was built around the old Mesa jail, and you can still visit the old jail cells as a part of your tour.

A suit of armor in the style of the early Spanish explorersThere is a variety of other exhibits, so you will find something to interest anyone.  If you like dinosaurs, there are skeletons and models galore, including a three story exhibit of life sized models, complete with motion, roaring, and an "erupting" waterfall.  There is information on the forming of the Southwest terrain. There are displays on the history of the people of the Southwest.  There is a good mix of hands on exhibits as well.  Try gold panning, build a giant scorpion model, or crawl through a lava tube.
