A gallery in the Phoenix Art MuseumThe Phoenix Art Museum makes an excellent destination for a romantic date or a fun date.   You are surrounded by conversation inducing works of art.  As you wander through the galleries, explore each other's taste and cultural interest.  You can play the role of goofy art critics, or be inspired and awed together.

A statue and a gallery in the Phoenix Art MuseumThe Phoenix Art Museum has a large varied collection of artwork: American, Asian, European, Latin American, Western American, modern art, contemporary art, fashion, and photography.  You are sure to find some exhibits you like, and others that intrigue, shock, or puzzle you.

On our date, we visited all of the galleries, moving at a fairly quick pace.  It took us about two hours to go through the museum, but you could easily go through in an hour, or spend up to four hours.  It really depends on how closely you like to study the various pieces.

The museum also offers movie viewings each month and occasional lectures and work shops.   Tickets are $10 per adult, and parking is free in the museum lot.

Since the museum closes at 5 pm, plan this date for a weekend or a Wednesday evening.  The museum is open until 9 pm on Wednesdays.  You can also make this a stop on the First Friday Artwalk, when the museum will be open until 10 pm.  The museum allows non-flash photography in most of the galleries.  Pieces that should not be photographed are marked.
