Phoenix Zoo

A date at Phoenix Zoo is, well, what you would expect from a date to a zoo. You walk around, look at the animals, and, if you are like us, have a fantastic time. The zoo has over a thousand animals on exhibit and 2.5 miles of trails. We spent over four hours viewing, and didn't see everything.

Our favorite exhibit was probably Monkey Village. You can actually walk right through the monkey's habitat, and get within feet of the cute little creatures. We also liked seeing the native Arizona wildlife on the Arizona trail, including wolves, a mountain lion, and javelina.

There is also an Africa Trail, with giraffes, zebras, lions, tigers, and rhinos. The Tropics Trail has a camels, elephants, and monkeys. The Children's Trail has a Wallaby Walkabout and a petting zoo. Of course, there are insect, reptile, and amphibian exhibits.
Admission to the zoo is $18 per adult. You can feed giraffes, ride a camel, or pet the sting rays for additional fees. You can also ride the safari train or carousel, or rent a pedal boat.
Useful zoo facts:
1. You can bring your own food and drinks. (No glass!)
2. You can bring your own bike, but no scooters or skateboards are allowed.
3. You can rent wheelchairs and strollers.
4. You can buy food and beverages inside the zoo, but they are rather pricey. We recommend that you at least bring a water bottle.
