Salt River Tubing
Starting on May 23, 2011, check your local Taco Bell for a $5 off coupon. Then put on swimsuits and sunscreen! On this fun date, you are off for a day of Salt River tubing.
Rent tubes and buy shuttle tickets from Salt River Tubing. You can rent a separate tube for your cooler, if you want to take one. A shuttle will take you to your starting point and pick you up at the end of your float. There are several starting points, so you can plan your float to take anywhere from 2-5 hours.
Once on the river, relax and soak up the sun and scenery. Swim if you like. Shoot some rapids. Watch for wildlife while you enjoy your drinks and snacks. Alcohol is permitted on the river, although glass of any kind is not.
You should know that there may be groups on the river who are loud and annoying. We've tubed the river three times and encountered this twice. We just paddled downstream till we were out of earshot.
An all day tube rental and shuttle pass is $15 per person. Just a shuttle ticket is $12. Note: Take cash! Salt River Tubing is does not accept credit cards, debit cards, or checks.
If you don't plan to rent or ride the shuttle, there are several parking places along the tubing route. Just make sure you purchase a Tonto Pass before you get to the Salt River. These passes are available in local stores and cost $6 each. You must have one to park anywhere along the river and they are not availabe on-site.
The tubing season runs from May-September.
